Chiropractic deals with the structure of the body. The spine houses the nervous system. To maintain optimum health, the vertebrae must be in proper alignment so that nerve flow can reach all areas of the body. A chiropractor aligns the vertebrae by adjusting the spine.
When a new life is begun, the first thing to develop is nerve tissue, which later becomes the brain and spinal cord. All tissues of the body form in and around the brain and spinal cord, which is the control center of the body. The reason for this is that the nervous system controls every function of the entire body.
There is an energy which is organized in the brain and goes to all parts of the body. This energy is something that one cannot see, touch, taste, smell, or hear. Yet, scientists tell us that if this energy or life force can flow over the nerves 100%, we will have life and we will have health. But, if this life force or energy flow is blocked, the body will no longer function normally. Something will happen. It is not possible to say exactly what will happen, but it is certain that something will happen.
The way the life force is blocked is through a subluxation in the spinal column. A vertebra is twisted out of its normal position, remains in this position and puts pressure on a nerve, thus cutting down or blocking the life force or energy flow. Each day out of the food we eat, new cells are laid down throughout the body. These cells last an average of six months and then die. They are then replaced by new cells.
There is an inteligence within the body that knows how to replace these cells. If a person has a good, healthy nerve supply, healthy cells will be laid down. On the other hand, if a person has a blocked nerve supply, unhealthy or sick cells will be laid down.
What would happen if you put a large tent over your garden in the middle of the growing season? What type of crop would be procuced? A puny, sick crop, right? Even though you continue to give it proper food and water, the crop will remain puny as long as the tent is left over the garden. Why is this? The energy flow is blocked! If the tent is removed soon enough, the plants will begin to come to life and will eventually develop into strong, healthy plants as long as no permanent damage has been done.
This same principle holds true in the body. If the energy flowing over the nerve is blocked, the cells involved will become sick and puny. The only place energy can be blocked is in the spinal column where a vertebra has been twisted out of place and is putting pressure on a nerve. Sick, puny cells will be laid down out of the food we eat as long as the blockage remains. Eventually, there will be a complete transition from healthy to weak cells in the area affected by the blockage or subluxation.
When cells, tissues, or organs become weakened, they are then susceptible to disease. Let us think about a lung that has weakened cells. What will a weakened lung do with ragweed pollen? It will not be able to take care of it as would a lung with healthy cells. Many persons believe that ragweed pollen causes hay fever. If this were true, everyone would have hay fever because everyone breathes in ragweed pollen. Any cell, tissue, or organ has to be in a weakened state before disease occurs. How does it get weakened? By vertebra being twisted (subluxated) and putting pressure on a nerve so that the life force is unable to reach an area in full strength, causing weak cells to be laid down. Thus, a person with weakened lung cells that cannot handle ragweed pollen is likely to develop hay fever.
The job of a chiropractor is to remove the tent from the garden! He does this by removing the blockage or interference to the life force or energy flow by adjusting the vertebrae of the spinal column. This will allow for new, healthy cells to be laid down to replace the old, weak ones. In turn, this will allow for the body to heal itself. It is LIFE that heals....not pills, potions, operations, medical doctors, osteopaths, or chiropractors. The laying down of new, healthy cells to replace old, weak cells is how healing occurs and health is restored.
Doesn't prevention make more sense than waiting until weak cells have been laid down? Wouldn't the garden bloom better if the tent had not been erected in the first place?
A chiropractor can check the spine to see if there are subluxations choking off the life force and then he can adjust the vertebrae if this is so, thereby maintaining the body in health by allowing for the continuation of healthy cells to be laid down and preventing a weakened state from occurring.
